Based on the notarisation made in the birth register, you can apply for a birth certificate for a home birth.
If you gave birth to your child at home, you must notify the registry office of the birth verbally.
The following persons are obliged to report the birth within the first week:
- the child's father, if he has custody of the child
- the midwife who was present at the birth
- the doctor who was present at the birth
- any other person who was present at the birth or is aware of the birth from their own knowledge
- the mother as soon as she is able to report the offence.

- Birth certificate of the mother
- if paternity has already been recognised:
- Declarations on the acknowledgement of paternity
- Birth certificate of the father
- if applicable, the declarations of custody
- Parents' identity card, passport or a recognised passport replacement document
- a certificate of birth issued by a doctor or a midwife or maternity nurse if they were present at the birth.
A marriage certificate must also be submitted if the marriage has been dissolved.

Procedure
You will receive the birth certificate on request.
You must appear in person at the registry office of the place of birth.
After the birth has been notarised, you will receive a birth certificate from the registrar if the child's name has already been established, otherwise a birth certificate.
Birth certificates are issued free of charge on a one-off basis for religious purposes and for assistance with pregnancy and maternity. For other purposes, certificates are issued free of charge if this is provided for by federal or state law.
The registry office will inform the registration office of the birth of your child.
If you require a birth certificate or a certified copy from the register of births, you must apply for this at the registry office for a fee.Deadlines
- Notification of birth: within one week
- The day of birth is not included in the calculation of the notification period.
- If a child is stillborn or dies in childbirth, the notification must be made no later than the third working day following the birth.
- Subsequent registration of the name: within one month
- Notification of birth: within one week
