Apply for a passport using the express procedure

  • Full text

If you need a passport urgently, you can apply for one via the express application process. If the passport application is received by the passport issuer by 12:00, the delivery time for your new passport is usually 3 working days, after which it will be ready for collection from the relevant domestic authority. A surcharge applies for this service.

An express passport is a standard passport for which the application and production process has been fast-tracked. If you need a passport immediately, you can apply for a provisional passport. However, this does not have all the features of a standard passport and is valid for a significantly shorter period.

If you are travelling with children, you can also apply for their passports via the express service.

You can apply for your passport via the fast-track procedure at the local authority office in your main place of residence. You may also submit such an application at any other local authority office if you have a valid reason. An additional fee for applying outside your area of jurisdiction will apply.
