    Anyone can use public roads, paths and squares as intended. If you want to use these beyond this, i.e. for something other than intended, you generally require a special use permit.

    Examples of the requirement for a special use permit can be

    • Construction site facilities
    • Sale of goods of all kinds
    • Setting up tables and chairs for an outdoor catering area
    • Erection of scaffolding and containers
    • Events and street festivals

      - The cost amount varies depending on the type, period and area of the special use.
      - The cost amount depends on the respective fee schedule.
  • Procedure

    If you wish to apply for a special use permit, you can submit the application in writing using the form or informally to the responsible authority. The application form can be obtained from the responsible authority or, depending on the service, can be downloaded from the Internet. It is also possible to use an online service. The procedure remains the same:

    • You submit an application in writing using a form or informally to the competent authority.
    • Describe the type, location, extent and duration of the planned special use as precisely as possible. Also state the impact on the affected area.
    • The competent authority examines the impact of the special use on the otherwise customary use and the requirements for authorisation.
    • After the review, you will receive a notice of approval or rejection.
    • The competent authority shall limit the authorisation in time and/or grant it revocably.
    • The competent authority may attach conditions and requirements to the authorisation, compliance with which may be monitored and violations may be penalised.

    The competent authority for municipal roads and local roads in the course of district, state or federal roads is the municipality.

    The following road construction authorities are responsible for roads outside of local thoroughfares:

    • for federal and state roads, the road construction authorities in Neustrelitz, Schwerin and Stralsund,
    • for district roads, the respective district or independent city
