Fire protection: preventive
Full text
The number of firefighting operations has fallen continuously over the last few years and decades.
One reason for this is preventive fire protection. This covers measures to prevent the outbreak and spread of fire and to secure escape routes. It also creates the conditions for effective fire defence. Examples include fire safety guards at public events or fire safety education for the general public.
An important measure to protect against fires is the installation of smoke alarms, which has been a legal requirement in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since April 2006 for flats (rented and owner-occupied flats as well as owner-occupied homes).Basis for action(s)

Responsible office
Fire protection is the responsibility of the municipalities, districts and the state. The responsible authority is determined by the applicable legal regulation for preventive fire protection.
