Dog tax registration

The cities and municipalities decide whether they levy a dog tax and how they organise it. The structure is set out in the respective dog tax bylaws.
The individual municipality determines the tax rates and payment modalities for its municipal area in the bylaws. Regulations on exemptions from tax liability or the granting of reductions can also be found in the statutes of the respective municipality.

If you have taken a dog into your household or business, you are obliged to register the dog in the municipality of residence, provided the municipality has issued a dog tax statute.

Please note that there are special requirements for keeping dangerous dogs. You must therefore have a licence to keep a dangerous dog. You must apply for this licence separately from the relevant regulatory authority.
