The Rügen Women's Choir invites you to three spring concerts in May. Under the title "Wonderful Spring", they will take place on 9 May in the Boldevitz Chapel, on 10 May in the Sehlen Fire Brigade Hall and on 31 May in St. Catherine's Church in Trent. Each concert starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free.
This year's concert series is being organised under special auspices. Since January, long-time singer Margrit Kiekbusch has been in charge of the choir and will continue to lead it in his spirit following the death of choirmaster Knut Furthmann. The concert in Trent is dedicated to him and will be complemented by selected poems from his pen.
The song programme spans an arc through classical and traditional spring and folk songs. Works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Friedrich Silcher are performed alongside international pieces and Low German songs. Arrangements and texts by Knut Furthmann himself can also be heard, for example in "Salut d'amour" or in "Abendlied". A concert that musically tells of the lightness of spring and at the same time keeps alive the memory of a passionate Rügen resident.
About the Rügen Women's Choir
The Rügen Women's Choir was founded in September 2018 under the direction of Knut Furthmann (1947-2026) and currently has 16 singers. The choir rehearses every Tuesday in the parish hall in Trent. The repertoire includes folk and Rügen songs, classical and romantic pieces, hits and evergreens. Several times a year, the Rügen Women's Choir performs in churches and other venues on the island. Socialising is also very important: The choir regularly organises excursions and rehearsal weekends.
